Christian Education Director - PT

Description:
The work of the Part-time Christian Education Director shall be under the direct supervision of the Minister with periodic evaluations by the Staff Parish Relations Committee. 1. The Christian Education Director will provide implementation and programming for children, youth, and families. a. enabling the birth of ideas and nurturing the creative process b. developing age-level appropriate programs and providing leadership c. administering programs; coordinating schedules, publicity, building use, etc. d. develop and administer an annual budget for the children and youth ministry in accordance with the financial policies of the church. 2. The Christian Education Director shall take an inter-generational approach to ministry, relating to all age groups and levels: a. Nursery–Manage and develop the nursery to be an environment of growth and nurture b. Children- develop and maintain programs that nurture the children of the church and teach them to play together as well as live together. c. Youth- develop and maintain programs and Bible Studies that give them a firm foundation in Christian life and living. d. Families – development of programs which strengthen the family as well as build up the congregational family. e. Provide opportunity for interaction between all age groups and generations so that they might learn from each other and might grow in mutual understanding and respect. 3. Assist in planning and implementing community and special events outside of regular programming as needed and approved by the Minister. 4. Attend staff meetings with the Pastor monthly and participate in the planning and implementation of church programs that will fulfill the mission and vision of the church. 5. The Christian Education Director will be a resource in and of him/herself and should become aware of other resource persons in the congregation and the community, as well as become familiar with resources and resource persons in the United Methodist Church. 6. The Christian Education Director shall give attention to leadership development within the church – identifying and recruiting lay leadership – with special attention to the educational ministry of the church. 7. Is willing to join the membership of Shady Grove United Methodist Church upon hiring in full agreement of our statement of faith. Be an active member of church leadership team and demonstrate loyalty and commitment to the mission of the church. This would also include attending church council meetings. 8. It is anticipated that the duties associated with this position will take no less than 10 and no more than 15 hours per week. Pay will be determined based on experience and education.

Qualifications:
Training and/or experience in church work. Will be starting and growing a program so will need to have vision.
