Many families do advent calendars during the Christmas season. It's a great tradition and there are so many varieties of advent calendars. There are advent calendars with pictures, pieces of chocolate, Legos and Scripture verses. But this one is different. It's a reverse advent calendar. Rather than getting something each day, you give something back.
Start with an empty box. You'll need a pretty big one. Then each day put something inside the box that would be useful to a shelter or food bank. Things like pasta, canned food and toothpaste are great additions. Need some more ideas? Check out our free printable guide for your reverse advent calendar!

This is a great way to demonstrate the real reason for the season-- showing others the love of Christ. It truly is better to give than receive and we think your family will enjoy this new tradition! If you've done a reverse advent calendar in the past let us know how it went for you in the comments. Merry Christmas!
