HIS Radio is honored to help push a late teen's mission forward through "Alivea's Book Drive." Alivea Cox was so beloved by her classmates, family and friends in the Richmond Hill community. When Alivea's parents adopted a special needs child from the Ukraine, they invited Alivea to come along for the trip. That visit changed Alivea's life, and sparked a dream in her heart to organize a book drive for children there.
However, Alivea's life was cut short due to lymphoma, a rare form of blood cancer. She passed away on Monday, June 4th, hours after receiving her cancer diagnosis. It was a shock to everyone who knew her. Alivea's mom Kristi joined HIS Morning Crew to talk about her daughter's legacy, and the book drive friends launched in Alivea's memory. So far they've collected 8,000 books, but HIS Radio wants to help collect even more!
That's why we're organizing a book drive that will take place during the Newsboys concert on July 21 at the Johnny Mercer Theater in Savannah. Everyone who donates a book will be entered to win a VIP experience to the Jeremy Camp/Matthew West concert in October! Not in the area? You can still support Alivea's dream by sending books to: Daniel Baptist Church, 580 Daniel Siding Loop Rd, Richmond Hill, Ga. 31324. Mail donations to: First Bank of Coastal Georgia, P O Box 430, Richmond Hill, Ga. 31324. Checks should be made payable to Alivea's Dream.
