Saying Goodbye to Dale Silver, Beloved Member of the HIS Radio Family

Posted on Apr 10, 2018 by Alison

We really are a family at HIS Radio. Sometimes we form friendships when people call or text us. We celebrate with each other and grieve together. And right now we’re grieving the loss of Dale Silver, a member of the HIS Radio family that passed away this weekend after a brave battle against cancer.

Dale Silver

Last year Dale's wife Michelle tried to call HIS Radio for comfort when her husband Dale found out that his cancer had spread to his brain. But she was so emotional she hung up the phone. Instead, she wrote this in a text:

"I don't know what else  to do but ask everyone I know to please pray with me. Thank you so much, y'all have been an inspiration to me through this difficult time. I have turned on your station and heard songs that just were meant for me. And I especially love the one by Laura Story, "Blessings." You never know how the Lord will bless you. He sees the bigger picture and the end result we are to trust him and have faith in the good and bad."

We immediately started texting back and forth with Michelle to offer prayer and support. We were able to organize a surprise meeting with Laura Story. Check out this special moment as it unfolded on air:

The blessings didn't stop there. Many people from the community stepped up to give this family a night they'll never forget. They enjoyed the VIP treatment with a limo, dinner and a backstage experience at the Casting Crowns concert. Lead singer Mark Hall joined with the Silver family in a time of prayer before the concert:

And through it all this family’s faith inspired us all. This is what Michelle posted on Facebook hours after losing her husband:

"You may have heard that Dale passed away but I’m here to tell you he is more alive then anyone of us! The moment before he took his last breath he smiled, at that moment i know he left to be with the Lord. Thank you Lord for allowing me to see Dale when he first saw your face. The peace of knowing he is there in heaven and that i will see him again is such a blessing. Thank you gracious Father. Friends, life is to short and if you don’t know the Lord Jesus as your personal savior I’m encouraging you to do that today."

Join us in praying for the Silver family and in celebrating the fact that Dale is now cancer free and celebrating with Jesus! May we all face trials with that same courage, faith and gratefulness.

    Michelle,

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my husband 1 year ago this past Christmas to cancer. As you said he is more alive now and cancer free. He is rejoicing in heaven, What a gift that is. You and your children are starting a journey like no other but know that with family, friends, HIS radio you will get through this. The main one in your life, our Lord Jesus Christ will be there to hold you, comfort you and will never let go. He is our comforter! I will be praying for you and the rest of the family as you go through this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss Michelle and Silver family. I was praying for you all. Your names were on my white board by my bed to remember Dale and his fight. Since I'm just seeing this I am very sad. I need to let this process. I will now continue to pray for the rest of the family. My sincerest thoughts and tears.
