As Lutherans, we trace our roots directly to the Protestant reformation that took place in Europe in the 16th century when Martin Luther, a German monk, became aware of differences between the Bible and church practices of that time.
Holy Spirit Evangelical Lutheran Church is the December 2006 consolidation of the 150 year-old St. Andrews congregation in downtown Charleston, and 60 year-old Holy Comforter congregation in West Ashley. Led by the Holy Spirit, amazing things are happening on Bees Ferry Road. We have a new church, a new name, a new mission and ministry, a new calling, and a new opportunity to share the Gospel with a new generation, including many who have never been a part of “Church” in any form.
