Coloring In Kindness

Coloring In Kindness - Spreading cheer through colors, one drawing at a time

Inspired by a HIS Radio story in 2013, then eight-year-old Adley Mae Ellenburg (now a college student!) found a way to become a local hero through her creation of Coloring In Kindness . After hearing about window washers who dressed as superheroes to cheer children in hospitals, Adley wanted to do her part. Though she wasn’t allowed to don her Wonder Woman costume and clean hospital windows, she decided instead to collect coloring books and crayons for her local children’s hospital. That simple act of compassion soon became a mission to comfort young patients facing fear and uncertainty.

From One Idea to a Community Movement
What began as one little girl’s dream has grown into a thriving community movement. With the help of local businesses and generous volunteers, Coloring In Kindness now collects thousands of coloring books, crayons, and creative supplies each year for hospitalized children. These small but meaningful gifts bring warmth to hospital rooms and waiting areas, offering both comfort and distraction during difficult days.

  Rooted in Faith and Kindness

At its heart, Coloring In Kindness is about living out God’s love through service. Each coloring book, crayon, and puzzle becomes a reflection of Christ’s compassion—proof that even the simplest gestures can have eternal impact. The mission beautifully echoes 1 Corinthians 16:14, “Let all that you do be done in love.”

  Brightening Hospital Rooms and Hearts
Coloring In Kindness provides coloring books, crayons, puzzles, and other art supplies to children’s hospitals across multiple states. Because these items can’t be shared among patients, resources are quickly depleted—making every donation deeply meaningful. Each gift restores a sense of normalcy, joy, and color to hospital rooms, reminding children they are loved and never forgotten.

  100% Giving, 100% Impact
Every penny donated to Coloring In Kindness directly supports its mission. Funds go toward purchasing requested items and sturdy storage totes that are gifted along with the supplies. Partnering with HIS Radio stations throughout the Southeast, the ministry continues to expand its reach, collecting and distributing donations at concerts, farmer’s markets, and community celebrations.
