About Jody Robinson

Music has always been a huge part of my life. My entire family loved music. We formed a band called “Sally and the Lovebugs.” Growing up in Savannah we’d play at area churches. My first dream was to be Donny Osmond! Of course, that never happened.

My second dream in life was to marry a gorgeous girl I met my senior year of high school. And I’m happy to say that dream did come true. Sharon and I have been married for more than 25 years and we’ve been blessed with 4 great kiddos, Will, Kate, Ben and Ty. I have taught middle school Sunday school at Independent Presbyterian Church for about 15 years.

Music was my passion, but I never thought of it as being my career until a friend asked me a life-changing question. She said, “Now that you’re married what are you going to do with the rest of your life?” I really wasn’t sure. I was working at Chick-fil-A at the time and thought that might be the path I would take. But then she asked me a follow up question-- “have you ever thought about broadcasting?” That question changed my whole trajectory in life.

I got a job at a local Southern Gospel station as a DJ. There I learned how to operate the board and be a DJ. Then I started calling football games for Savannah State University and that’s when God opened another door.

I was on my way home from a football game one night and I tuned in to this station in Atlanta—it was a Christian radio station. I knew right then that we needed this type of station in Savannah. The next day I called and set up an appointment to meet with the leadership of this station and told them my dream. It took six years of work and prayer, but God answered my prayers and in 2000 His Radio became a reality in Savannah.

Now thousands of people every week hear the music that offers hope and encouragement through life changing lyrics. It’s music that can transform a soul from darkness to light. God used me, a kid with a dream and determination, to bring HIS Radio to Savannah and the surrounding area. I pray this music that shaped me and who I am is accomplishing the same in all who listen to HIS Radio.

I love college football—UGA football especially and of course the Atlanta Braves. If you have a good brownie recipe, I am not afraid to try it…just without nuts!
