Tosha Finley-Caine Halter YMCAMy name is Tosha Finley and over the past several years I have faced many hardships all of which have contributed to my tremendous weight gain. The past 6 years I have been a single mother, an employee, and a college student. Life always seemed to go so fast with very little time for myself. In the meantime fast food was a convenience in between the daily rush to get from work to school and school to home, etc... I went through a serious depression when my mother passed away and often felt the need to eat to satisfy myself which in turn lead to some tremendous weight gain.

I was a size 7 when I was married in 1998 and now I am a size 18. Here is a simple timeline: 2003- major Knee Surgery due to Workers Compensation -Out of work for 6 months / Legal Seperation 2004- 2nd Knee Surgery/ Divorce/ Enrolled in College at Gvll Tech 2005- Mother Passed Away/ Laid Off From Work 2006- Worked Full Time/ Attended School Part Time 2007-Worked Full Time/ Attended School Full Time 2008-Worked Full Time/ Attended School Full Time 2009- Graduated College with 2 Associates Degrees / Laid Off From Work in August 2010- Looking for FT Work/Weight 215 lbs I really want to make a change in my life not only for me but for my children and my new fiance.

We both so despirately want to lose at least 50-70 pounds each before we decide on our wedding date.

Last Friday was a great start I think. I met with my wellness coach, Bruce, and we did the initial assessment and made an appointment for Feb. 15th to go over my actual plan. I had already lost 3 pounds since my initial weigh in and will hopefully double or even triple that this week. We set an overall weight loss goal of 20 pounds over the next 12 weeks. Saturday morning I attended the boot camp class, and even signed my friend, Beverly, in to go with me. We have really hurt the past two days. Boot camp was like PE in high school times 20, but we made it through it. Phil was a great instructor and really kept everyone smiling as they were sweating and burning those calories. I plan on going back to bootcamp this coming Saturday. I took Super Bowl Sunday off of exercise and am starting right back today. "GO SAINTS"...had to sneak that in. I plan on sticking with my diet this week and making sure I squeeze in 30 minutes of activity each day and 3 of those days being at least 60 minutes of more strenuous activity. The hardest thing for me so far is making sure I eat 6 times a day and drink 8 bottles of water.
